Kids,

Other than the Exchange Bureau release made up of rarities and unreleased tunes, I haven't been able to put together any sort of album or EP for a while. Though I've been inspired to do individual songs, I can't come up w/ an album vision that appeals to me for more than a few days. It's like, rather than a single album vision I have multiple themes, attitudes or angles that I want to explore at will. This usually means that all these great and diverse song ideas usually get lost because I'm trying to force all the creative energy of a given time period into a restrictive mold. And then I think, "Aha. I just need a new album concept." Then the whole stupid cycle happens all over again. Shit. That's the best I can explain it. Enough...

Fine, then. Fuck the album idea.

Instead of trying to "finish an album," I'm going to imagine that there a lots of shelves. As I make a song, I'll decide if it needs it's own shelf or if it makes sense to group it with any preexisting songs. So yeah... no albums. Just a series of shelves. Maybe after some time I will release the contents of shelves in groups. I guess we could call these groups albums or whatever. Hahaha!!! Why do I torture myself with definitions? Hahaha...

Anyway, I will release songs as free digital singles right here at this site until there are enough to group together as a release package. Or not. Perhaps some of it will serve as demo material for a release on another label? That would be cool. I really want to stick with this single-song plan. It seems to make sense. Understand?

Don't miss out on this one. Dead Doldrums is a dense, trippy, energetic, hypnotic loop I did a couple of years ago. I thought I might do something else to it, arrange it further, but whatever.

It started with a random sample I took from some of the Couth sessions a few years back which contained handclaps and some guests talking in the background. We were messing around after practice. The recorder was still running. One section stood out as I was listening afterwards. I added some other elements and then the program I recorded it on went south. For good.

I called it Dead Doldrums 'cause I thought it sounded like the opposite of boredom. Whoo HAAA!!!

Still have a goal to put a multimedia package together by late summer. DVD, custom USB stick & other handmade surprises (something wearable?) to be included in the bundle. Keeping it moving. Probably gonna follow up the multimedia package with a series of digital music singles & maybe something by another artist(s) besides myself? Maybe. So many possibilities. Brainstorm, brainstorm...

I want to give you more! This site is free for me, so I will save the $100 a year I paid for the Mac site. It's really easy to maintain. I don't even need a computer of my own to run it. I could be a primitive nomad, use other people's studios and venture into a library with a USB stick whenever I need to update it! HAHA!! Crazier things have happened.
